Shark School

You’ve heard of the “School of Rock“, but you never heard of the School of Sharks, which is what our friends from Haus des Meeres just started! These zebra sharks, Stegostoma fasciatum, where born at Loro Parque and Flying Sharks moved them to Haus des Meeres, in Vienna, last December.

As part of their environmental enrichment protocol, the sharks are trained to recognize specific objects in order to get their food and, guess what, they are doing wonderfully. This is very exciting because such learning ability is traditionally associated to mammals only, but it turns out that these sharks are pretty cool students as well!
