Flying Sharks and Canary Aquatic in Morocco!
June 8, 2025Congratulations to Esther Asantewaa, a young student from Ghana, who’s doing her MPhil in Wildlife and Range Management at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Esther applied to our Research Fund to support her research on billfish fisheries in Ghana, which is a pioneering study aimed at establishing a crucial bio-ecological and bio-economic baseline to inform the sustainable management of billfish populations.
Given the critical role of billfish in supporting local economies, livelihoods, and food security, this study will address the increasing fishing pressure on the species, largely driven by the decline of teleost stocks.
This funding will significantly aid Esther’s data collection efforts, ensuring that the research produces meaningful insights for conservation and fisheries management, so we simply had to send Esther 500 euros. Well done, Esther, and keep on rockin’!
