September 23, 2024Who would have thought, back on the 1st of September 2006, that Flying Sharks would be celebrating 18 years of age??
It’s been a wild ride thus far, mostly fun, occasionally frustrating, often unnerving, because working with live animals can be challenging, especially when dealing with bureaucrats who value ‘rules’ over ‘animal wellbeing’.
But, somehow, we’ve managed to find a solution to every problem and miraculously deliver under frequently seemingly impossible scenarios.
For that we have to thank our phenomenal TEAM, who put their own welfare as second in relation to that of the animals under our care because, in the end, they are the reason why we are in this business.
Yes, we move live animals from their oceanic homes to artificial homes, but we do that following two fundamental rules:
- Their new home, under human care, needs to offer an environment that’s identical – or even better – than the original wild habitat they came from.
- The custodians of their wellbeing need to be seriously invested in ocean conservation and education.
In other words, we collectively subject ‘a few’ individuals to a new home, to help save the TRILLIONS OF ZILLIONS that are swimming in the oceans, prey to overfishing, climate change, habitat loss and an endless range of never-ending perils.
That is our why and we vowed to excel on the how, and for that we have to thank (again) our TEAM, who work tirelessly to ensure that each individual under our care gets the absolute highest level of attention and respect it possibly can.
We would finally like to thank our esteemed clients, partners, suppliers and friends, without whom we simply couldn’t do what we do.
Thank you all for your valuable support over these 18 years, and we look forward to 18 more!
