Remember our friend Shamil Debaere, who received funding from us in 2023 and 2021??
Samil’s been very busy with his PhD, studying chronic stress of sharks, and just published one very cool paper on quantifying changes in umbilicus size to estimate the relative age of neonatal blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus).
We also understand Shamil’s PhD is in full swing and other papers have been submitted. There’s nothing we enjoy more than seeing our Research Funds at work and supporting young and vibrant scientific careers!
