Carcharias taurus introductions to Blue Planet and Deep Sea World
November 22, 2021Last week we shipped quite a few fish to the Israel Aquarium, in Jerusalem, which included Seriola rivoliana, Apogon imberbis, Sparisoma cretense, Dasyatis violacea, and a few others. Of all the many pictures taken during the collecting, holding and transporting stages of such a large order, we chose this one, where Flying Sharks co-founder and partner Telmo Morato (right) and our Azorean operations manager Rui Guedes (left) focus on the water quality inside the tank beween them, which holds three Seriola rivoliana, getting ready to travel for nearly 48 hours. There are a lot of reasons why Flying Sharks reached the age of 15 years last September, and keeps growing strong, and one of them is definitely the tremendous focus that our team puts on their job, ensuring that every t is crossed and every i is dotted before the animals are sent on their journey.

What? No Lantern sharks, Etmopterus?
Hey John, João here! Long time no speak. Although Etmotperus are in fact abundant in the Azores, I’m afraid that we haven’t shipped any yet. 🙂
