Traditionally we like to fund students in need of assistance to travel to an internship, or present their research results at a conference. This time, however, Professor Paulo Maranhão, from the Superior School of Turism and Sea Technology, asked if we’d be able to fund a field trip of 43 undegraduate marine biologists to see ‘Mário Ruivo’, Portugal’s largest oceanographic research vessel. There’s no way we could say no to such a request, so we sent these young students 200 euros.
We look forward to welcoming them to the wonderful world of Marine Biology in just a few years!
