Captive bred Hippocampus guttulatus/hippocampus, anyone?
March 10, 2024Research Fund 09/02 :: Ana Sequeira
April 6, 2024Congratulations to Fanny Vermandele and Lauric Feugère, two early-career researchers (Ph.D. and post-doc) working in Prof. Piero Calosi’s Marine Eco-evolutionary physiology laboratory at the University of Quebec in Rimouski (UQAR, QC, Canada).
Their work focuses on understanding the impacts of global change drivers on ecologically-important species (i.e., shrimps, copepods, lobsters, clams, and fishes) and they are aiming to develop a new framework to integrate the multi-layer response of animals from molecular to whole-organism levels to make functional links between the cellular compartments and observed phenotypes, such as survival and reproduction.
To do so, they have been collaborating with Dr. Carolina Madeira’s and Dr. Diana Madeira’s labs at the Universities of Lisbon and Aveiro (Portugal), and they asked for some funding to do a research stay from February 27 to March 14, to jump-start their collaborative research programme. It was our absolute pleasure to send them 400 euros and to learn that their trip to Portugal was a monumental success!
