The Canary Song
August 13, 2023Fancy a different kind of evening?
Then come play with Flying Sharks, as we acclimate 4.000 Cyprinus carpio – commonly known as ‘Carp’ – to a private estate with some impressive names as investors, such as George Clooney and Sharon Stone! Ok, we admit it… As we were acclimating the fish – imported from the U.K. – to their HUGE new one, we kept looking around, hoping to get the mother of all selfies!
However, while the introduction of the fish was a relatively smooth process, despite some significant differences in water quality, arranging all the documents for this export/import was everything but, since good ol’ Brexit turned an otherwise seamless process into a Kafkaesque nightmare. But common sense prevailed in the end, as it always does, and every hurdle was jumped, occasionally bypassed.
After a very long night, the team enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the nearby Costa Azul restaurant, where owner Jorge António welcomed us with open arms and a smile on his face at… Midnight!
If you’re planning on hitting the Comporta beach, where Madonna used to ride her horses with the family until just recently, be sure to stop by for lunch – or dinner – at Costa Azul and say Flying Sharks recommended you! That’ll get you an extra piece of cheese and maybe some chouriço as well.
And now it’s time to stop writing, because we have fish to move, including 4.000 more Carp next week!
And don’t forget to Carp(e) diem!
