 May 2010 - Every transport begins with the not-so-pleasant job of organizing and cleaning all tanks. Many thanks to Ruben Fortuna, Filipe Rodrigues, Joćo Reis & Catharina Pieper, Joćo's students from E.S.T.M. who gave us a tremendous hand.
|  June 2010 - No transport is truly complete without some sort of unnexpected event... This time it was Miguel's car, which suddenly decided to die on us and had to be jump started with cables borrowed from the service station.

 June 2010 - After offloading the truck and palletizing all tanks the time came to load them all on DHL's awesome Boeing 757.
|  June 2010 - The three hour flight goes by pretty quick because there's always a lot to do, like checking ammonia, pH, oxygen and, of course, chatting to the pilots about "Flight Simulator" and other plane stuff.

 June 2010 - Landing in Leipzig was just about at the time the sun was starting to rise, which allowed for very pretty pictures on the tarmac.
|  June 2010 - Offloading the tanks and rolling them onto a roller bed truck was super fast! Less than 50 minutes from touchdown until we were pulling out of the DHL terminal! Well done, DHL!

 June 2010 - Already in the company of the good folks from the Meeresmuseum, we drove the six hours to Stralsund and took the opportunity to add a last batch of sodium bicarbonate and carbonate.
|  June 2010 - These pit stops are very important to check on water quality, the animals and life support systems.

 June 2010 - Some 24 hours after they started their journey in Olhćo, the 500 Trachurus trachurus swam happily at the Ozeaneum's quarantine facility.
|  June 2010 - ...As did the Pteromylaeus bovinus, Myliobatis aquila and Mola mola.

 June 2010 - After all the animals were safely acclimated and delivered to their new grounds, all tanks were cleaned and the gear organized and shipped back to Portugal.
|  June 2010 - After a few drinks, it was time for Joćo and Zé to catch the 4h13 (AM!) train to Berlin and then fly home or, in Joćo's case, fly directly to Omaha for the Regional Aquatic Workshop.
